What do we know about the Ready Player One?
In 2018, Warner Bros. released the adaptation of Ernest Cline’s 2011 novel Ready Player One, directed by the iconic Steven Spielberg. The film delighted filmmakers and critics alike with its world-building and pop culture references.
Including an extended tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 classic The Shining. So far, the Ready Player to Novel has not been published, but it seems that the cinematic sequel may be in the works.

Kline began writing the novel Ready Player Two a few months before the release of the Ready Player One film. Since then, the author has revealed that he is inspired by the success of Spielberg’s film.

Ready Player 2 Renewal Status?
Warner Bros. initially acquired Ready Player One’s movie rights before the release of Cline’s book. Filming began six years later in July 2016 and then wrapped up in September 2016. Eighteen months later Ready Player One premiered in March 2018.
Going forward, the best case is that Ready Player to Film will be greenlighted in early 2021 and filming will begin (and end) by the end of the year.

When can we expect Part 2 of Ready Player to Release?
In this scenario, the sequel would theoretically be released in the first half of 2023. Given that there will likely be delays and / or scheduling conflicts, it is reasonable to speculate that Ready Player Two will be released in 2024.
