Locked Down Ending: Everything you should know
In ‘Locked Down’, she reimagines the familiar territory that delves deep into a troubled relationship, taking away the immense capabilities of her actors, leading to mutual estrangement and heartbreak at home.
The dissolution of romance and finding a solution in classic Hollywood pure escapism is what you might expect from it. ‘Locked Down’ is a heist movie, as it is a relationship drama, and it both serves as Limn’s ability to handle such meetings of contradictions.
Linda Thurman (Anne Hathaway) and Paxton Riggs (Chiwetel Ejiofor) are an urban couple living in London. Set in the months following the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent lockdown.
The film shows that the relationship between the two protagonists is rapidly disintegrating. Ironically, if the lockdown placed the final nail in the coffin of their shared past, then the lockdown is also what prevents them from being buried for good.
Circumstances forced Linda and Paxton to quarantine together, and the outrage festered in prolonged quiet moments. These two are deeply unhappy individuals. Paxton, the quintessential underachiever, is still paying dues from a solitary moment of violence in his youth.
Business progress removed him before lockdown. During this time, he fainted. On the other hand, Linda is successful professionally, but she absolutely hates her job. As CEO of the London branch, he is forced to shoot many of his colleagues.
The early part of the film features a lengthy monologue, during which she exposes her sheer disappointment at herself for becoming something that her younger self must have made fun of.
As Linda says, at one point in the film, they both came together when they were wild, and then, they both stopped being wild. Theoretically, it should have worked, but it did not.
However, it seems that fate plays an active role in their relationship when Linda discovers that Paxton is driven by her old boss, Malcolm (Ben Kingsley), on behalf of her company to drive some cargo from the Harrods store Harrod Airport. Have rehearsals to do.
One of the items worth more than three million pounds is Harris’ diamond. This is not at all unfair, she temporarily proposes to Paxton that they steal it.
When Paxton agrees with the idea, she tells him that they will wait until the last moment to decide whether to go through with the plan.
Locking Down Ending: What Do They Choose?
The person suffered a setback even before planning for it. As the job is transporting high-value cargo, it requires drivers with no criminal record. Due to the lockdown, Malcolm has no choice but to reach Paxton, who has a criminal record.
To eliminate that, Malcolm decides to give Paxton a false ID. The problem is that the person to whom he is tasked with creating ID has a long-standing office rivalry with Paxton. And so, this man creates an ID for Paxton by the name of 19th-century writer Edgar Allan Poe.
Luckily for Linda and Paxton, many people are not fond of readers today. The two successfully enter the Harrods building and obtain the real diamond from the security officers watching the vault.
In this transitional period, they appear to modify the bond they thought the two had broken for good. Linda talks about her sexual encounter with the wife of Paxton’s stepbrother (Dual Hill). Paxton is more surprised by the sudden revelation than upset.
His celebration of this momentary decision of Donald’s (Mark Gatiss) arrival is interrupted.
Donald is one of the people Linda fired earlier. He finds out that Paxton is there with a false ID. At that critical turn, Linda decides that the only thing she can do is tell the truth. And she does. She tells Donald who Paxton really is and why they are there.
Most importantly, she confesses that she is still in love with her partner. Donald, who was mistreated by the organization he worked for, was only out of his concerns for Linda. He captures a moment of his time and agrees to lie to the police.
What’s in store for Linda and Paxton?
Paxton’s motorcycles represent the free, wonderful days of their youth for both of them. Therefore, it is only appropriate that they move towards their new life on the same vehicle. The problems that are there will definitely not go away overnight.
But now there is a similarity in their relationship. The money (1/3 had gone to the NHS) helps them bring stability to their relationship. If they don’t want to, then none of them have to work.
Paxton might, as Malcolm had promised him a desk job before. Love was never completely taken away from their relationship. It just became inactive, especially after COVID started. Trapped 24/7 with each other in a tight spot, they could only see the shortcomings of their relationship.
A night full of thrills and thrills is needed to rekindle the romance. When the film ends, the epidemic is still raging, and the lockdown is extended for another two weeks. But the two protagonists will survive more of this intimate existence as they rediscover their true feelings for each other.
Therefore, Linda is quick to forgive Paxton, despite having forgotten his birthday. After all, at the time of lockdown, very few people can keep track of what date it is.
