After his family moved to Long Island in London, he started acting as a teen below the name Zev Love X as part of this hip-hop group KMD, which he began with his younger brother, DJ Subroc.
The band’s debut album was released in 1991, but its follow up had been shot after Subroc was killed in a car accident in 1993. Reeling in the death and the following drop from his recording label, Dumile took on the streets, sleeping on seats for several years as he wandered aimlessly.
He re-emerged in the late 1990s at the Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe in Manhattan, acting while wearing a stocking mask. He went on to make a string of production monitors and solo/collaborative efforts under various names.

He had been residing in London at the time of the death, was prohibited from returning to the US after a trip. Besides his wife, the couple’s son, King Malachi Ezekiel Dumile, expired in 2017 at age 14.
