Lee and his older brother Casey (Richard Konke) inherit their love of horses from their late mother. Casey suggests that they should go on a cross-country equestrian trip together after graduating from high school.

Lee happily agrees as she will find time to find out what she wants to do with her life. But after Casey’s death in a tragic car accident, Lee’s life suddenly undergoes some drastic changes.

His father, Jeff (Kevin Sizemore) retreats to his garage, dedicating himself to finishing the car that he was rebuilding for Casey. Meanwhile, Lee is forced to perform all the responsibilities of the victim family alone. Eventually, Casey’s best friend, Jordan, helps him get in shape.

Despite his fear of horses, Jordan helps Lee in the barn. He also spends time with Lee’s younger brother Logan (Gunnar Sizemore). As the film progresses, a relationship between Lee and Jordan begins to develop, attracting the attention of both sides of the racial divide.

Unlike Lee, Jordan feels that everything has gone well. He currently attends a local college but has already enrolled at a prestigious college in California on a football scholarship. He intends to attend business school there.

But his life is not without problems, most of which stem from his father, Thomas (Gregory Allen Williams), who lost all of his college money in gambling. When Jordan and Lee start dating, it makes their lives more complicated.


Jordan has grown accustomed to being racially proficient, but he gets it whenever he surprises Lee. As soon as the people of his city become aware of their relationship, the hostility in Jordan experiences abruptly increases.

Even Lee feels about his partiality. This is indicated when he tells Jordan to play basketball with Logan, believing that he will be naturally good at the game. When Jordan corrects him and tells him not to make assumptions, he immediately apologizes.

When they start dating, they slowly occupy Casey’s vacant space in their family for both Logan and Jeff. The latter is even the first ride on Jordan Casey’s car when it is fully built.

However, the car attracts the attention of some of Lee’s classmates, and the separation with him leads to Jordan being hospitalized. For the first time in his life, Lee and his family realize the casual racism that Jordan faces every day.

For Lee, she confronts Thomas for her share of racial prejudices as well. Not knowing how to keep them apart to see the surrounding society, Lee and Jordan specifically create a world of their own.

Jordan breaks up with Lee and resigns himself to his fate until Lee comes to his rescue. At the beginning of the film, Jeff comments that Lee should sell Casey’s horse if he feels overwhelmed by his responsibilities.


She can hold the horse for as long as she wants. Ultimately, this is the last relationship he feels is with his brother. As long as she can ride it, she won’t have to accept that her brother is gone. Therefore, when she finally sells the horse, grief begins to come out of her.

Lee gives Jordan some money to attend college and regain his dreams. This is an unselfish thing for someone she is not dating. But for a few months, Jordan’s dreams were his dreams as well.

And even though the relationship ended, Jordan did not stop being one of the most important people in his life. Jordan has convinced himself that they are not together. Lee’s actions may clarify any doubts about their relationship.
