In most of Clancy’s Jack Ryan books, not to mention the uneven film adaptations of the property over the years, the character’s origins as a young CIA analyst always coincided with a much older, desk-ridden version of Greer.

Cathy was the love interest of Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) in the first season, just as she was in the Tom Clancy novels. In the books, in fact, Cathy and Jack get married and have kids,
And all that – and Jack is the first lady when she’s elected president. So many people thought that Cathy, and thus Cornish too, would be a mainstay of Amazon’s chain.
