John Wick 3 Recap: What happens in the Movie?
In Casablanca, Vic visits a local branch of The Continental and meets Sophia – a woman from her past who owes him. Vic hands Sophia a “marker” she received from the library—a medal, symbolizing an unwavering promise by one person to fulfill a task requested by another.
Vic asks Sophia to honor Marker by helping him locate The Elder—a senior member of the High Table. Sophia reluctantly agrees and takes Vic to a local man named Berada.
Berada provides Vic with the location of The Elder within the desert, however, a confrontation ensues and shoots one of Sophia’s dogs. In retaliation, Sofia shot Berada in the leg.
With the help of their two trained dogs, Sophia and John exit the area before traveling to the desert. After completing her “marker”, Sophia leaves. John continues to walk alone in the desert, before collapsing from exhaustion.
John is found by a passing traveler and taken to The Elder’s place. The Elder gives John a choice between dying or accepting a mission to kill a close friend, Winston, on behalf of The High Table in exchange for removing the bounty on his head.
John accepts the mission, and as a show of commitment to The High Table, breaks his ring finger and gives The Elder his wedding ring.

John Wick 3 Ending Explained: Does John Wick Got His Revenge?
High Table’s plans didn’t work out in this case, thanks largely to the bond that Winston and John share after years of working together. Winston was not interested in stepping down, and John didn’t really want to kill him.
After John and Charon bulldoze through High Table’s army, the Adjudicator asks for a conversation with Winston. Winston reveals his true intention: to demonstrate power so that the High Table does not again question his ability.
In exchange for the life of John Wick, the Adjudicator affected his brief rebellion. To John’s nervousness, Winston fires several bullets at him, the force throwing him from the building where he lands in a broken pile on the street below.
But to the shock of the Adjudicator, a few minutes later, John Wick’s body mysteriously vanished. John would have gone along with it to survive, had Winston not offered him an option – teaming up to fight the high table.
