What to expect from the plot of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway?

The plot of the film series takes place in the original Universal Century timeline of the Gundam franchise, 12 years after the Second Neo Zone War. By this time, Zone has been accepted back into the Earth Federation, but said Union is still incredibly distrustful of its former enemies.

As a result, they send Manhunter units to attack and exile them, which they consider undesirable, leading to a murder in the Earth Union. Combatting this is a group known as the Moffee, led by Hathaway, the son of Bright Noah.

Hathaway takes the name Erin and engages in acts of vengeance against the Federation, all while reflecting on her own life and the lives of both Amaro Rey and the Char Aznable.

This attracts even more attention from the Earth Federation, namely Kenneth Slag and the Sark Unit.

He encourages some of the allies to attack the city, prompting a quick military response and a massively disastrous battle. It also, rather importantly, does not facilitate Hathaway’s escape.

It comes later when Hathaway learns that the Force is now in possession of a prototype Gundam called Penelope, piloted by a young ace named Lane Aim. Obviously, this is the start of the all-action finale, in which Hathaway’s She Gundam Lane takes on Aim’s Penelope.

Hathaway takes his partner safely inside Ξ Gundam, and then the fight begins in earnest. Maneuvering through Penelope’s missiles, Hathaway moves the Gundam close to the surface of the water and uses his beam rifle to attract Lane’s attention.

As Lane focuses Penelope’s arsenal of rifles, Hathaway ambushes her with funnel missiles and defeats her. While Penelope takes considerable damage, Lane manages to make it out of the encounter.

This final battle is complicated by the fact that Kenneth keeps a captured Muffy rebel Gawman in the cockpit with Lane to be used as a hostage – Lane, though naive and idealistic, as he is, made his bargain.

Chip lets go, and he eventually loses the fight, although he manages to survive the encounter. Hathaway then turns his eyes to the Australian town of Onbely, where rebels are collectively gathering in open rebellion against the Earth Union government.
