The Ice Road Summary: What the movie is all about?

After a remote diamond mine collapses in Canada’s far northern regions, an ice driver leads an impossible rescue mission over a frozen sea to save the lives of trapped miners despite melting waters. A danger they never see coming.

The Ice Road Ending Explained: What happens with Gurty?

From what was said in the mine and Katka office scenes during the film, it became clear that Sickle and some of his colleagues were to blame for the methane explosion.

They could have taken safety measures to avoid such a catastrophe, but insisted on their activities in the mine due to financial concerns. This means that Sickle and others could face dire consequences if these details were ever made public.

The men in the mine knew what was happening, so the truth was sure to come out after they were rescued. So Sickle thought it would be better for him if the miners ran out of oxygen and died. This result would have allowed their secrets to remain buried.

It is up to the remaining survivors, Mike and Tuntu (Amber Midthunder), to complete the mission. So they move fast towards the mine and reach on time. The miners make it alive and scatter the beans over the fact that the people in charge risk their lives.

Good wins and evil gets punished. The family is reunited, and the friendship grows stronger. In the heartwarming final shot at the end of The Ice Road, Mike drives into a new truck with a license plate that reads: “TRK TRK TRK” – a name Gurty joked about during the mission.

Had given. As Tuntu takes Mike’s truck over a bridge, Gurty has to get out and help the wheels move through the snow. This leads to the collapse of the bridge, but they can barely finish it.

The thing is, the truck starts to glide over the ice, moving backward so that it falls right where the bridge used to be. A frantic Gurty then tries to lock the gate of the bridge to stop the truck from going up.

Mike manages to kill Verne as he drives the rig into a patch of ice and jumps out just before crashing. The truck, carrying the main antagonist, sank.

Unfortunately, as Tuntu and Gurty try to cross a suspension bridge, the wires break and the truck starts to slide backwards. As the latter tries to stop it, he is crushed to death.

Only Mike and Tuntu survive and manage to lead the last wellhead to the mine, saving the trapped people. Sickle and Katka’s CEO, Thomson (Matt Salinger), are arrested by the authorities when the truth emerges after this operation.

A few months later, the surviving pair meet each other at a trucking business now owned by Tuntu. They talk and bid each other farewell as Mike moves to a new rig bought with rescue money.
