The Mandalorian Season 2 Ending Explained: What happens with Jedi?

Honestly, we don’t know. But we hope the next season of The Mandalorian will fill in those gaps. By the time of the sequel, we know that Luke is serious and is living as a hermit on Ach-To.

Before that, he trained potential Jedi at his academy – which was destroyed by Kylo Ren about 20 years after the events of The Mandalorian. The distinction between Return of the Jedi and the two decades that followed is much more ambiguous – at least in official theory.

Given his late appearance in the episode, he is still searching the galaxy for potential Jedi, and is in contact with Grogu via the Seeing Stone on Tython.

Expect the post-ROTJ period to revolve around Luke’s quest for the next generation of Jedi and stronger ones with the Force, starting with Baby Yoda. Digital de-aging and facial replacement technology.

At this point in the Star Wars timeline, we are after the events of Return of the Jedi, but before Luke’s self-imposed exile before The Force Awakens. He has come for Grogu, what we learned from Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) in Season 2 Episode 5 – that Grogu was originally being trained by the Jedi prior to the rise of the Empire.

Once the Empire took over, Grogu forgot everything he learned so that he could survive and not stand out as a threat. It seems that these Dark Troopers consume a lot of power.

As a result, they are placed in a power-down state, and their reactivation cycle takes a long time. This leads Din Gerrin and his allies to initially believe they have a chance against the Dark Troopers, as their launch bay is en route to Grogu’s cell.

Mando’s job is to cancel the reactivation cycle on his way to get Baby Yoda. Unfortunately, he’s too late, barely surviving a fight with a Dark Trooper, and instead evacuating the others into space.

Given that these are droids designed for launch into space and the atmosphere, this should be considered a delay tactic at best. You might be wondering why Bo-Katan is so reluctant to accept the blade that his main goal has been to recover the priceless artifacts.

As we learn, the “story” behind Darksaber is just as important as the blade itself. Bo-Katan needs his men to know that he won Blade in a respectable encounter, proving that Mandalore again has a strong, righteous leader.

The fact that she previously accepted the Darksaber as a gift from Sabine Wren in Star Wars Rebels may play into that wish. Bo-Katan once took the easy route, and the end result was Mandalore falling back into royal hands.

She may actually see the downfall of her planet as a result of her personal weakness, which will make her more determined not to repeat that mistake. The Mandalorian is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, which was released in the year 1983.

The Mandalorian’s official synopsis reads: “Following the fall of the Empire, a tall gunslinger makes his way through the outer reaches of the chaotic galaxy, earning his fortune as a bountiful hunter.”
