Truth Be Told Season 1 Ending Explained: What Happens with Lanie & Josie?
Season 1 gathers Josie and Lani’s convention at a coffee shop where they reminisce about their youth and how Laney has been really really constantly attached to Josie before having really reconciled with her brother.
But seems thrilled but is actually stunned when the police arrive and nab him for his mother’s murder. We then see Poppy videotaping the last incident of her podcast, which she finalizes on a helpful notice, noting that it has indeed been a life-changing experience for all those involved.

She decides not to give up and go deeper than before. Going through the stuff, he finds Lani’s childhood diary. Lani wrote in her diary that Chuck used to molest her every day. This made Poppy think that her mother killed her husband to save her daughter.
Since Erin’s alibi was too weak, Poppy calls her on the podcast to talk about what happened that night. But before she can come, Erin dies. The cause of his death was an overdose of Fentanyl.
When the police investigated the matter, it came to know that it was to bring his own daughter. Stealing drugs from his clients, he gave them to his mother, who later died of an overdose.
This is explained very quickly, but Josie’s motive was not murder for the sake of murder. She thinks she’s watching her father molest her sister because Laney made her believe him.
This leads us to the murder of Erin – because Laney’s historical personality disorder is clearly not being treated. She kills her mother because she is about to tell the truth and the truth will hurt Josie.
