Bertie’s time at therapy comes in handy as the flood brings to the fore Tuca’s hidden feelings—literally. A stormy flash hides Tuka’s cup of emotions behind his toilet, bringing them to life as ghosts float above his head.

Of course, the writing is on the wall and all of Kara’s avoidance. When they finally find her on a cruise ship across the lighthouse, she is happily watching Tuca, and it is clear that the relationship is over.

Kara reminds me a lot of my ex, who rocked me for weeks. No text, just silence. Then when I saw her again, she wanted to act as if nothing had ever happened.

It felt bad, but none of my friends listened to me because they were his friends too. It was heartbreaking for me to see Tuca comfort Bertie like this. I wish I had friends like this too.

In a heartwarming statement, Tuca finally admits how sad she is and lets Bertie comfort her in a refreshing change of pace. As they make their way to safety, Bertie eventually confronts the issue of co-dependence between them.

The flood also exacerbates these relationships, sabotaging Speck’s idyllic vision of life with Bertie as her obsessively designed dream home is washed away.

This disaster forces the optimistic speck to face the fact that not everything is perfect, and that’s okay. Kara is an incredibly easy character to hate, as her emotionally manipulative behavior becomes more and more apparent with each successive episode.

However, the writers always find a way to represent how Kara justifies her actions, addressing her past in a way that, while making no excuses, somewhat explains how she treats Tuka.

“The Flood” makes particularly poignant use of Kara’s lighthouse, a symbol of safety for travelers in the midst of the flood, while Tuka’s marks the opposite.

If we see a person, we’re like, “Oh, that reminds me of my best friend,” or “It reminds me of my second-grade teacher,” so when they were animal-people So you kind of come don’t know who they are.
