Sonny Boy Season 1 Ending Explained: What happens with Nozomi?
According to the standard definition of being carried to another world. However, the main tropes for the genre have become, not so much. Whatever you were expecting in Sony Boy Episode 1, you will probably be surprised.
The show is incredibly atmospheric, drawing more on horror a la The Drifting Classroom. It’s psychological terror, and it draws the audience in immediately. Stylistically, it would almost remind one of the few productions of SCIENCE SARU.
Going into this review, if I didn’t know it was planned to be a series, I would have thought Sonny Boy Episode 1 was a full 20-minute short film.
I would have been happy with this even if the threads were still not tied. It will be interesting to see where the story goes from here. The two decided to stay where Nozomi had left and leave in the morning. He met a scary boy who gave him a note.
They find that the man is Raj, who had leaves and a parrot on his head. Raj goes and pays his last respects and decides to help both of them find their way home.
He went to Raji’s headquarters and found that 2000 hundred years had passed since he had come to this mysterious world. Raj shows the two the final draft they made, which contains a road that will take them to Earth.
To her shock, Nozomi learns that non-rescue versions of her classmates graduated from middle school, but she never succeeded, as she died before graduation. It also foreshadowed his death by falling off a cliff in this world.
Then why is Nozomi seen alive? The anime doesn’t offer a definitive explanation, but it appears that Nagra and Mizuho ended up in a normal world that was not the same as the one seen in Episode 6 – one in which Nozomi never died.
This is only fair because they managed to find their way through the compass which was essentially their fallen friend – or perhaps, they inadvertently influenced the outcome.

Mizuho wonders if the boy is dead, and Raj replies that he’s not sure it’s got to be difficult in the world. Mizuho expresses her fear of death and wonders how Nozomi felt when she died.
Raj asks if he has seen the world where Nagra died, and he denies it. She wonders why they say that Nozomi is dead. Nagra shows Raj something that confirms that Nozomi has passed away. The two talked about a disciple from that country who believed they were God’s children.
Sonny Boy Season 1 Review
Nahara and Mizuho choose to escape “This World” in the previous episode and return with them, despite no one else choosing to go with them and knowing that their original world will not be the same world. which he had left.
He did it for Nozomi, who in the end couldn’t get him to return. Everyone else left it to make it back to the real world, but they didn’t. The animation is quite striking. The low amount of detail and watercolor like palette set this anime apart from its peers.
The character design was done by Eguchi Hisashi, who was also the character designer of Perfect Blue, which tells you all you need to know about it. If that doesn’t make sense to you, check out Perfect Blue. You will be a better person because of it.
