Dexter Ending Explained: What happens with Dexter?

The past 8 years since Dexter ended have been a mystery, so the main serial killer, who is out in the open for Season 9 in disguise, is curious. Dexter Morgan was last seen living as a lumberjack in Oregon,

But there is no clear explanation as to why he moved from Miami to Oregon to New York under different nicknames. It has been suggested that he hasn’t used Dexter Morgan since 2013 and has found some way to change his appearance so as not to get caught.

Dexter’s New Blood reboot has yet to reveal which titular character has been murdered since his death in the Season 8 finale, with Dexter’s final season attempting to wrap up many loose ends.

Debra, who learned about her brother being a serial killer last season, deals with trauma and guilt over her past actions. A psychotherapist arrives for help in a serial killer case – and becomes the original co-creator of Dexter’s “code of conduct”, along with Dexter’s father.

Dexter Review: Is the show worth a watch?

Daniel’s death demonstrated, as I’ve said several times this season, how poor an assassin was compared to Dexter. He certainly comes second in a straight fight with only a pen as a weapon.

I took the choice of this weapon as some attempt at irony on the part of the writers, where they have killed the characters with their own pen for all these years, and now Dexter makes his final kill using one.

I hope they laughed as they wrote this, because if that was the intention, it wasn’t funny. Dexter moved on after Maria’s death but Deb was lost. She has quit her job and joined the private sector as a bounty hunter.

She wants nothing to do with Dexter and has resorted to alcohol and drugs. The transition from Dexter’s serene calmness to Debra’s chaotic desperation was done beautifully.

But the biggest trouble I have with this episode is Dr. Evelyn Vogel. He is a new character introduced in this episode. She is a neurophysicist who advises on cases dealing with serial killers and has been nicknamed the “Psychopath Whisperer” by the FBI.

She thinks she knows the secret of Dexter and his early life. Vogel’s eyes seem to wander here and there and his acting seems half-baked to me which was very distracting to me.

It looks like she is channeling Hannibal, smile on face, and then slowly speaking dialogue, but I think this character needs a more serious approach, maybe her character in this period evolve and let us know more about it.
