Dopesick Season 1 Ending: Everything you should know!

Dopesick is an American drama miniseries created by Danny Strong in the nonfiction book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company Addicted America by Beth Massey.

The first three episodes of the eight-episode series were released on Hulu on October 13, 2021. Dopesick focuses on the “center of America’s struggle with opioid addiction” throughout America, and the drug OxyContin in particular.

In 2006, Randy and Rick showed those perjury testimonies to Congress at Purdue. Purdue Pharma tries to get out of it with a $10 million financial stimulus, but they don’t have it at all.

This inevitably comes after Randy and Rick meet with Martin, inquiring about the company. Martin mentions the missing training tapes and, in turn, leads them to Billy.

This is where we learn that he never signed an NDA and he still has the tapes. After some persuasive pressure, Billy posts the video to his office.

These training tapes very clearly show fraud and how the company knowingly misled and lied to its sales reps. Bridget said that in her heart, she believed the Sacklers would someday pay for their sins. But Rick kept it real with a heartfelt “Nah.”

And given the immunity the family received from opioid lawsuits in September of this year, it looks like old Rick was right. Enough about the Sacklers. Domestic fans really tuned in to find out the fate of Samuel Phoenix.

The former doctor could have easily missed out on learning that Betsy had died of an overdose, before taking her to an addiction specialist who may have saved her life.

But Samuel showed up and kept trying. He apologized to Betsy’s parents, which didn’t go well as her mom Diane angrily walked away from her. At least his father listened to Samuel.

As the ending ends, it brings some light to the end of the tunnel. It offers hope that greedy and evil corporations can be taken down if we have the will and patience.

Bridget meets Rick and Randy and thanks to them for giving them the first blow – it’s a record of criminal activity that will help in future cases. They toast the fight. Bridget knows that one day the Sackler family will go down, but Rick is skeptical.

But it turns out Bridget was right. Several institutions dropped Sackler’s name in 2019. The family is shy of their hometown of New York. We get real-life footage of several class-action suits against him.

They are labeled as an evil family. The Sackler family has agreed to forfeit ownership, hand over more than 33 million documents and pay $4.5 billion in settlements, and in return, they cannot be sued. He used bankruptcy to save the family.
