Lost in Space Season 2 Review: Is the show worth a watch?

The Christmas-themed opening bodes well with the season 2 premiere of Lost in Space on December 24, and seven months have passed since the shipwrecked Jupiter 2 stars a decidedly Swiss family Robinson as Will.

Feel in and John creates a makeshift holiday light show with bioluminescent moss. And presents artfully arranged below. Everyone is focused on surviving on the hostile planet they find themselves on,

This includes daily routines of things like caring for corn in a greenhouse protected from toxic environments, but there’s a certain comfort in their lives – and maybe Complacency – even with Dr. Smith remaining confined to the quarter.

And thank goodness that Lost in Space Season 2 has given Smith a short leash! The number of chances this devious character got last year despite being caught red-handed several times was never quite believable,

And though she certainly finds ways to make herself useful this time around, it’s a more believable personal journey. That includes a real chance of redemption.

The flashbacks provided to explain some of Smith’s skills might feel similar to last season’s, but they open the door to genuine sympathy from audiences and much-needed complexity to this utterly evil character.

Although the eventual re-introduction of the Robots offers up some of the series’ strongest moments, things begin to unravel as the season ends.

An adult who spends most of his screen time discussing how badly he wants to see his family on Alpha Centauri decides to run into a lightning storm because he believes an ex.

The young boy will tell stories about his sacrifice, and then an army of robots appears from nowhere. Chaos ensues, important characters are torn apart, and pieces are put on hold for a possible third season.

It’s complicated and rushed ending that doesn’t offer much emotional payoff, but its teases are interesting enough that fans of the series would probably be willing to overlook the lack of a resolution.

“Lost in Space” stumbles in many ways, but with a tighter and more original narrative and more fleshed-out characters, the series could actually become a great sci-fi adventure if Netflix decides to renew it for a third season.

Will is still Riddle, Judy is the smartest, Penny is the smartest, Maureen is the genius, and John is the strongest. The fact that Lost in Space is associated with similar traits is impressive for character development.

zThe writers have always lived up to their intention – creating authentic truths behind the characters. And so, Lost in Space Season 3 is a warm farewell in the best possible way. It does not leave a sour taste at the end and gives a decisive goodbye to the fans. That’s what the audience has always wanted—something that should be retained. The final season certainly does that.
