The Matrix 4 Trailer Explained: What does it reveal about the upcoming part?

We see him consulting a psychiatrist, played by Neil Patrick Harris, to see if he’s “crazy,” but it’s clear that Neo will soon wake up and re-learn the truth about his past. But someone is trying to stop this from happening.

We see Neo taking the blue pills in front of the mirror. Since the blue pills symbolize ignorance of the truth, it’s possible that these pills are preventing Neo from regaining his memories and abilities.

Neo gives up on his prescription and resists Morpheus’s red pill later in the trailer, though. In this movie the Matrix is visible within the Matrix. From about the 32-minute mark of the first movie, we see a brief shot of Neo after taking the red pill.

Perhaps that’s why Jonathan Groff’s character asks at the end of the trailer, “After all these years… to go back to where it all started. Back to the Matrix.”

This suggests that Keanu Reeves’ character has some identity issues, and perhaps assumes that he is The One as a result of watching the film. Or, Thomas is an actor and Groff plays his agent, which is more likely.

We love new ideas but also the comfort of familiar things. The Matrix Resurrection is looking like arresting, capturing the delivery of that conflicting desire: it’s not new, but it’s a new beginning.

It fits well with the story of The Matrix and its hacker-influenced ideas: it’s a universe designed to reboot naturally. The resurrection has undergone some much-needed changes, none of which have come from nowhere.

The artificial world of the Matrix has exchanged its previously dull, yellow-green palette for a rainbow of colors, a likely direct tie to the end of the 2003 Revolution, which spawned reboots soaked in the vibrant morning sun.

Look at the matrix. But if Neo was just plugged into the Matrix and this movie takes place years later as he remembers who he is? He was killed in the real world, not the Matrix, and there seemed to be no return for him.

The fact that Trinity Back shows that we can see the next iteration of the Matrix, with all the characters going through the same routine again.

There’s always the clone option – that it’s not really our Trinity we’re looking at but a clone created by machines for a certain purpose. What could that purpose be? Who knows?

Maybe it’s to get Neo back out and stop The One in this iteration, or maybe it’s to make sure things go the way they should.
