Princess Connect ReDive Review: Should you watch the movie?
Princess Connect is an icekai that uses the slice of life aspects to break up the fine ensemble of style. Much of the show is built around character development, when you see the main characters enjoying life with each other, and less about an exuberant plot.
The protagonist is a soft-spoken, charming, amnesiac who fell from the sky, and everyone loves him. Throughout the show, he is considered as the younger brother whom everyone wants to see successful.
Unlike Konosuba, the characters are not constantly opposing each other but are genuine and caring. They also form a guild together, called the Gourmet Guild, with the goal of finding new, exciting food and ingredients.
As the series progressed, it was surprising how much charm and personality developed. Princess Connect was more lively than I had initially expected. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this was both a faithful and well-conceived adaptation.
I’m not sure how The Source compares, but after a while, I forgot that the show was based on a game. It played out more like an original idea than a story based on something by any other medium.
What little challenge comes from leveling up your characters and your player level. The more you play, the higher your player level. And the more you play with your characters, the higher their level.
Character levels can never exceed your player level, so it’s important to focus on both. Players can also raise their characters’ ranks, which opens up new skills by equipping items. These skills can also be upgraded with the use of mana.
Despite the complex upgrade system, there’s actually very little you can choose from about the characters as in other RPGs. There are only a handful of skills available for each character and you never choose from them.
Princess Connect brings with it a fantasy setting similar to the various fantasy and Isekai fantasy titles that we have seen in the past. An interesting element is how the series also reflects the Isekai fantasy formula for comedy.

While the series does not openly explore the world as a substitute for the characters living in it, to some extent, the series looks like a fantasy Isekai, which can be thought of as the formula for modern Isekai.
It worked for the series However, some aspects of the lore could have been better explored in a slightly more serious type of action adventure. The problem with drawing contemporary ideas of what should go into fantasy shows of this nature is that they tend to eschew interesting plots,
Character development and world-building to focus more on bright and fun viewing experiences. Princess Connect isn’t all fun and games, which is why it’s a bit disappointing to see the above plot and world-building being left out for short snippets,
Scattered throughout the show or the last few episodes. You get a new one every time you rank up your character. Therefore, the game mainly comes down to a numbers game: level up as efficiently and as quickly as possible so that your party can do the most damage.
