How I Met Your Father Season 1 Ending Explained: Will there be a season 2?
The series follows Sophie (Hilary Duff) as she navigates the ins and outs of dating in New York City, while a future version of her, played by Kim Cattrall, describes how she met the man of her dreams.
In the pilot episode, she narrows the father’s pool of applicants to a group of men she met on a fateful day, so the question becomes which lucky man will be her true love.
A little inspiration from Valentina and Charlie makes her come to a decision, so she looks for her phone. Unfortunately, after Sid leaves Uber his phone exchanges with Sid’s. Valentina and Charlie with Sophie head to Sid’s bar, where his friends gather to surprise his girlfriend.
Initially, everyone thought Sophie Sid was due to a phone accident. There, Valentina and Charlie meet Jesse’s sister, Ellen. Viewers will learn that Jesse is Sophie’s yin ki yang because he doesn’t believe in love.
A major problem with the show when comparing it to Mom is that since most of the characters are in relationships, almost every episode has at least one plot where they do some falling out and then reconcile at the end.
Here we have Sid and Hannah, who, concerned about the rising costs of the two marriages, decide to get married immediately, while Charlie and Valentina end up breaking up because she really wants kids and she doesn’t,
It soon feels awful, but will hopefully allow them to have more adventures next season. It looks like Ellen will move into a relationship next season carrying in a cat that happens to be Rachel’s, giving her a second chance.
That plot point is quickly resolved, and not only does Jesse show up, but they have a sweet date, and spend the night together. Everything seems to be going well until Jesse prematurely tells Sophie that he loves her in his sleep.
This upsets Sophie to such an extent that she begins to self-sabotage their relationship, as she feels that things are going too fast and there is no way Jesse can go about things so fast.

This, of course, doesn’t parallel Ted and Robin – especially after Ted tells Robin that he loved her all the way back in the pilot. In episode 9, Sophie and Jesse agree to a date, but Jesse spends the first half of his day with his ex-girlfriend, Meredith.
Episode One Gets Off On A Rock: Will Jesse Show Up To His Date With Sophie? Even though the night is near, Jesse mumbles in her sleep, “I love you, Sophie,” which naturally freaks Sophie out.
It’s technically their first date, and they’ve only been friends for ten episodes – who knows what equals one episode in human time?
After her sleep-inducing confession, Sophie takes Jesse out in the morning and when they meet for drinks before her big gallery show, she brings what she says, hoping they can joke that it’s How funny was that?
