The Adam Project Ending Explained: What happens with Adam & Laura?
The year is 2050, and a pilot named Adam Reid (Ryan Reynolds) has just stolen a spacecraft. His boss Maya warns him that if he doesn’t turn up, she will shoot him out of the sky, and down if he tries to time travel. will track. But Adam has done something fancy to block his trackers, he says.
He flies into a wormhole and disappears. The older Adam is joined by his younger self (Walker Sobel), they are able to trick his ship’s DNA-encoded programming into letting him fly even though he is injured.
However, with the ship operational, Sorian’s team is able to track down Reeds. Just then Laura emerges, guns blazing. Again on the run, the couple has a brief reunion, before Laura convinces Adams to take another leap in 2018, where Sorian initially changes the timeline.
While there, they are reunited with their father, who knows how to destroy the technology that makes time travel possible and prevents their benefactor from fulfilling their own agenda.
Laura stays behind to stop her enemies in 2022, essentially meeting her death at the hands of Sorian twice. Laura escorts Adams to her cabin, where she has been living for the past four years.
She was stranded in 2018 after traveling back to check for an anomaly in Time Jet records, where one had returned from 2018 and there was no trace of anyone going back. The man turns out to be Maya Sorian, who is the business partner of Adam’s father, Louis.
She goes back in time to give her young child some tips on how to collect her wealth and gain control over time travel in the future, and because she has changed the course of time, the travel does not appear in the record.
Sorian then tries to kill Laura in 2018 but does not succeed, so Laura is stuck in the past. In the future, Laura did not return from a time jump, and Adam was informed that his jet broke upon re-entry.
He refused to believe it because Laura was the best pilot in his program. She learned that her flight log had been altered by someone wanting to hide the truth, and so she decided to come back in 2018 for the first time and investigate her fateful mission.
Adam suspects that Future Sorian was involved in Laura’s disappearance, and Young Adam is shocked. To them, Young Sorian is simply the beloved business partner of their deceased father.

Once Adam blows up the time travel machine in the past, both he and his younger self disappear back into their own right in this new timeline. Location. The film could have ended there, but it provides the audience with two short epilogues.
First, we see young Adam hug his mother, confirming that the new sympathy he picked up during this adventure has been moved to a new timeline. Second, we see Adam and Laura reuniting in the future. They don’t recognize each other, but they quickly start a flirtatious conversation. It’s almost as if something abstract is pulling them together.
