The biggest plot revolves around an idiom: “You are al rata alada.” Batman roughly translates to ‘Winged Rat’ and it all centers on someone from Gotham’s underworld who is feeding the GCPD information.
Batman finds himself up against the Riddler, who is portrayed here as a Zodiac-style serial killer and played by Paul Dano. A black mirror of Batman, he is out for vengeance like the Caped Crusader.
As far as he is concerned, Gotham has disappointed him all his life and he even thinks about getting Batman to be with him till the end. The dark, gritty reimagining of The Batman by Matt Reeves is a new universe drenched in rain and crime engulfed Gotham City.

Who had a secret affair with Mayor Michelle. Meyer tells him the truth about Sal Maroney – as well as the renewal money becoming a criminal slush fund – as the GCPD and Meyer team up with another gangster, Carmine Falcone to shoo Maroney away.
Falcone also took over the narcotics business, while the GCPD was praised for its massive drug bust, even though it had virtually no effect. As we later learn from Alfred,

As some versions of the comics, none of the good guys know for sure who really killed Wayne—a question mark that might pop up in future movies but the point is, the Falcone manipulates everyone, including Bruce Wayne.
He brought closer to his class with his lies about Bruce’s parents. Selina Kyle and Batman split up; He’s certain Gotham can’t be saved, but he’s sticking around trying to sort things out.
Think of Wayne’s early voiceover: Everything he says about seeing the crime and filth on the streets of Gotham, and his rebellion against anything not directly connected to a dark avenger who is evil Duff’s people, is really about himself. He is tormented by his inner turmoil.
